An “August” Evening at Home at NASA at Big Tree Harare

An "August" Evening at Home at NASA at Big Tree Harare

Jonathan N. Wakeling

The border between this world and the next

I thought of describing in photos and a video what life looks like at home at NASA on an average evening. Hence this post. From supper to a cup of tea, to my daily medication and even my toothbrush – nothing is left to the imagination.

NASA on the property at Big Tree Harare (see map) is my humble abode where I have lived since moving home permanently in September 2009. The kitchen was added on in 2012 – before that it was just a bedroom/bathroom flat. The photo above is of the floor between the bedroom, in terracotta, and the kitchen in white tiles. I toyed with giving Big Tree a name over the years and (as described in the In Tune About me) due in part to my interest in the sciences and metaphysics (aka astronomy and astrology) and various other factors discussed elsewhere having a connection with NASA and space and the night sky came naturally. Naming Big Tree Harare itself was a gradual development and first saw the online world via social media towards the end of 2018 although the family has lived here at Big Tree since moving across town in 1995 – so we have much history on the property.

It’s good to have the support of NASA proper and it actually does it’s job (for the critics out there.) It provides me with much needed mental “cloud cover” with the difficult but rewarding life I lead in “Harare” reality and the complex multiplicity of occupations I have i.e. as an artist, psychologist and writer. No doubt a valuable point of contact with “Planet Earth” with all the psychic exploration, astral travelling and dreaming that I do as a natural course of daily life on “The Far Side.” Not to mention the mental health issues that I am gradually recovering from.

I hope this article fills in a blank online both for Big Tree Harare and for my under-subscribed YouTube channel. The fact of the matter is that I eventually had to put my money where my mouth is as far as online life is concerned – and I’ve achieved the impossible so far all things considered. Big Tree Harare was first called Burning Frog Island and then The Canoe Zoo Cafe before taking its place in world history as Big Tree Harare – see The Deepweb1 Sites for more information. Also see my first few YouTube videos from 2017 – which are fascinating in hindsight.

YouTube video filmed on Thursday August 4, photos below taken on Saturday August 6 2022.

Our workers cook my evening meals during the week (and occasionally at weekends!) Here you can see the pot of sadza cooking by the fire. Keep the home fires burning folks!

My daily medication. Pink pills: Vitamin C, 500mg each. The pale yellow pills: Clozapine, 100mg each. Clozapine is one of the two antipsychotics that I am currently taking, the other being a monthly 200ml Clopixol injection.

Due to numerous power outages and tap water that relies on being pumped with electricity I have to bucket water daily.

I leave you with a favourite tune that I enjoy listening to in August since Folklore was released in 2020 – also in recognition of Cornelia Street at Big Tree Harare named after the song Cornelia Street by Taylor Swift – Zimbabwe’s unsung hero Hero’s Day. Take it away Taylor Swift! (by the way listen to my latest scrobbles on Last.fm)
